Established by 5 Valley YMCAs the property of Sequoia Lake is held in trust by the Sequoia Lake Conference of YMCAs to be operated exclusively by The YMCA. In 2010 YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake became its own branch of the Golden State YMCA Association to host all of the Associations camping programs managing all programming on Sequoia Lake. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.

Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

CAMP FACILITIES: Located on bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, sunny UC-Santa Barbara is a perfect getaway for superior summer training. It provides spacious grassy athletic fields for training, a university stadium for night games, an outdoor swimming pool for recreation, and a great beach for swimming. The campus is located 95 miles from Los Angeles, 215 miles from San Diego, and 320 miles from San Francisco.

Players stay at Tropicana Del Norte in suite style rooms. Tropicana Del Norte was recently completely and beautifully remodeled, all suites have three bedrooms, two baths and a living room.

CAMP FACILITIES: SOAR has two major Base Camp facilities: one in Balsam North Carolina where we have rustic cabins, a dining pavilion, on site showers/bathrooms, high and low ropes course, as well as several gathering campfire locations. The other is in Dubois Wyoming, where we have similar amenities as above except, this base camp is a working horse ranch!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Philosophy: SOAR believes all individuals identified with learning disabilities (LD) and attention deficit disorder (ADHD) possess inherent talents and gifts. 1) Youth Academy - Designed for boys and girls ages 6-10. Fun, exciting and engaging activities are all part of the week. With our unique curriculum youth players will be exposed to the proper technique such as shooting, dribbling, 1v1, crossing and much more.

2) Junior Academy - Designed for boys & girls, goalkeepers and field players ages 10-13. The program has been designed to build a foundation that will help the participant’s progress to the next level. This will be accomplished in a fun, entertaining and positive environment. Each session will be progressive in nature and will conclude with a relative small-sided game that will highlight the topic of the session. Competitive tournaments will be played throughout the week, and be the highlight of our evening sessions.

3) Senior Academy - Designed for High School players, including incoming freshmen, who are ready to play and be trained at the next level. . Throughout the week, players will be put in a competitive environment that will bring out their very best. Players will be exposed to the four dimensions of training, Physical, Technical, Tactical and Psychological. In our unique evening competitions, players will have the opportunity to compete against other teams, other players and themselves.

4) College Prep Academy - Our goal is to provide an incredible environment where serious soccer players will be exposed to the highest level of instruction in anticipation of playing at the highest level possible. High Performance Seminars will be led by trusted experts in their field and will include: Sports Nutrition, Soccer Specific Conditioning, ACT/SAT Preparation and Sport Psychology. Goalkeepers and field players will be exposed to an intensive training environment for those who are serious about fulfilling their potential.

5) College Showcase Camps - Now available for the serious soccer player at select No.1 Soccer Camp sites throughout the country. The directors of our College ID Showcase Camps are all currently active college coaches. CAMP FACILITIES: Parents use their local pool to supervise kid's stroke drills and video them underwater so they can see and correct their stroke.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1985, the only swim camps that teach parents how to teach their kids to swim like World Record holders using a smartphone underwater video camera. Our swimmers have won 43 Gold Medals, state and national championships, and have set 11 World Records.

Computer analysis of our swimmers at Colorado Springs showed that they doubled their peak hand force output in just five days. Dryland and Pool sessions are 3 hours each and include underwater videotaping and special drills to improve stroke efficiency. Most freestylers cut their stroke count in half. Each camp is a total of 30 hours.

Dryland sessions include stroke, strength and flexibility analysis, Microfiber Reduction to increase flexibility beyond what stretching alone can do, and stretches and strength training exercises. Each swimmer receives a 2500 yard workout to do at home after the camp, and a Somax Powerbelt to increase the strength and speed of hip rotation. Parents report improved school grades after chest expansion is doubled.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We have year-round individual programs for golf, tennis, running, soccer, baseball, football, and basketball which improve performance far beyond coaching and strength/endurance training. CAMP FACILITIES: Our 200 acre property contains forest land, a swimming pond, activity fields and hiking trails. We have 14 cabins, a dining hall, meetinghouse and a large community garden attached to our farm lands and orchard.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summer Camp - Ages 8-14: Campers come for 1 week or two week session (and some for 3, 4, or 5 weeks!) and go on wilderness trips. Each week there are 3 day, 2 night trips to Tahoe, the Sierra Buttes, and/or the Yuba River.

Teen Leadership Camp - Ages 15-16: These exciting programs takes the Summer Camp experience to a whole new level for 15 and 16 year olds: We offer a two-week hiking program, a one-week farming and cooking program, and a two-week bike repair and bike touring program.

Hiking Program (Two weeks): TLCers will spend two days bonding, learning about their trip, and preparing for hiking. They and their trip leaders will then embark on a 10-day backpacking trip along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). They will then return to camp, and will have two days of closure at the end.

Farming & Cooking Program (One week): TLCers will spend their week working in Woolman's organic garden, learning about farming, plants and the farm to table journeys of the food we eat. They will learn nutrition and cooking skills as they prepare many of their meals with the fruits and vegetables harvested.

CAMP FACILITIES: 24-hour health center, seven resident buildings, a library, computer lab, heated swimming pool, oceanfront recreation center, weight room, gymnasium, chapel, bookstore, canteen, campus store, athletic fields, dining services, and fully equipped classrooms and dormitories. Camp Challenge (Leadership Development Courses):

1. Camp Challenge Four-Week JROTC Leadership Development Program.

This camp is the only credit-producing Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) summer leadership course west of the Mississippi. The course is open to both male and female high school students (entering Grades 9 through 12.) The course consists of a combination of classroom work combined with adventure training activities and will reward successful participants with 180 hours of Leadership Education and Training (LET) Credit.

During the course, participants will develop self-confidence as leaders and as active team members as well as enhance his/her Core Values; Honor, Integrity, Responsibility, Loyalty, and Selfless Service. Additionally, this course is designed to add “Leadership” to Resumes and College Applications.

2. Camp Challenge Two-Week High School Leadership Education and Training.

This two-week leadership camp is designed for both male and female students (entering Grades 9 through 12) who are unable to attend the four-week JROTC Course but who are still interested in achieving a leadership training experience. Camper will choose one of the following electives for their focus: Leadership, Aviation,Computer Science, or ESOL.

3. Camp Challenge Two-Week Middle School Leadership Development Programs (LDP), Basic and Advanced.

LDP Basic is an introduction to leadership for students interested in exploring potential and enhancing existing skills while learning the fundamentals of citizenship. Campers gain invaluable life skills through fun activities and adventure based challenges that reinforce teamwork, accountability, discipline, and respect.

LDP Advanced can be taken after completion of LDP Basic and offers an advanced curriculum in leadership combined with an introduction to subjects that will help prepare campers for high school. This course focuses on the core values of responsibility , loyalty, and selfless service.

4. Camp Challenge Four-Week Middle School Leadership Development Program.

This is an introduction to computer science emphasizing project based learning and scientific problem-solving. This elective reinforces the scientific process and promotes the appropriate use of technology in today's society while providing participants an opportunity to build websites and program video games.

Aviation:
Aviation science presents an introduction to aeronautics through in-class discussions and project-based learning, covering: principles of flight, aircraft anatomy, space travel, remotely-piloted aircraft systems, and how to earn drone, glider and private pilot licenses.

ESOL: English for Speakers of Other Languages
ESOL involves engaging content which promotes active listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, using a variety of instructional mediums and technological support.

Fees are all inclusive, covering transportation from the Ventura Family YMCA to Sequoia Lake and back to Ventura, meals, activities, staffing and facility fees. Scholarships are available through the Open Doors Scholarship Program.

CAMP FACILITIES: Training is held at the Potrero Field on campus. This complex features space equal to four full size soccer fields. The camp's exclusive use of these fields insures that they are in magnificent condition. Even our professional players on the staff, who expect perfect playing surfaces, appreciate the chance to work on such well-kept fields. Games are also held in the New Arroyo Hall gym next door to the dorms. Playing with tennis shoes and with the smaller indoor ball, campers get the challenge of playing a quicker game with restricted space.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our home is the stunning campus at Cal State Channel Islands located near Camarillo, CA. The university is surrounded by agricultural land and nestled at the base of the Santa Monica mountains. It has the most modern facilities of a Cal State school and state of the art soccer fields for our campers. Now in our 41st year of running camp, we continue to be leader in youth soccer programs.

CAMP FACILITIES: Students in the overnight camps will be housed in university undergraduate housing, eat in undergraduate cafeterias and have access to university recreational facilities. Commuter students are also welcome at the overnight camps.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: An advanced class for high achieving high school students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related fields, such as pharmacy, nursing, biomedical research or drug development. Through engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory classes, students learn about normal molecular and cellular biology from PhD-level instructors, and then learn how these normal processes are distorted to cause the development of cancer. A similar style is used to teach Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Immunology and Molecular Biology of Development and Aging. To conclude the workshop, students use what they have learned to create an original research project on a gene of their choice. Free time includes planned activities such as sports and field trips.

Camp Directors: Ryan G. Holzer, M.S., PhD - Ryan has 17 years of medical research experience, working on cancer and type 2 diabetes. He has a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Diego and he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Mayo Clinic.

Ha B. Nguyen, PharmD - Ha is a professional pharmacist who also has laboratory experience working on antibacterial immunology. She has a B.S. in Biology from the University of California, San Diego and a PharmD from Midwestern University.

Summer 2019 Molecular Biology of Cancer, Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Immunology and Molecular Biology of Development and Aging science camps will be held at the University of California, Berkeley (6/2-6/15, 6/16-6/29), and University of California, San Diego (7/7-7/20).

In addition, we are holding a day camp on Medical and Translational Bioinformatics during Winter Break 2018 in Berkeley, California. We also offer a laboratory-intensive camp on Biomedical Research during mid-July to mid-August.

CAMP FACILITIES: Jam Camp West is held at Redwood Glen Camp. Jam Camp West provides a great alternative to traditional band and orchestra camps, where youth of ANY skill level can take part in a highly creative and quality artistic experience in a stunning redwood environment. In addition to our educational curriculum, Jam Camp West blends the wonders of the natural world into this inspiring and fun-packed music making experience. Our classroom is the majestic redwood forest, where talented professionals, and carefully chosen counselors and CIT’s serve as role models and mentors.

Campers create a personal schedule from over 25 noncompetitive workshops offered each day. Jam Camp offers classes in instrumental ensembles taught by ear, vocals, percussion, steel drum, beat box, turntables, dance, and body percussion. Music styles include jazz/funk, blues, hip-hop and gospel. Jam campers will also enjoy fun outdoor activities including swimming, volleyball, basketball, hiking and many more. CAMP FACILITIES: Skylake's secret to success is its small cabin groups. "Boys' camp" and "Girl's Camp" each with their own 16 rustic cabins is where the Skylake spirit is born. The 6500 square foot lodge, dining hall and lakeside porch is a center of activity. Tennis courts, sand volleyball, climbing wall, campfire circle, private docks on Bass Lake all provide a complete camp experience.
