CAMP FACILITIES: The facilities at Camp Soles consists of 23 cabins, an 18-acre lake, basketball court, athletic field, nature center, arts center, meeting space, beautiful dining hall (seats 175), and much more!

YMCA Camp Soles is a traditional YMCA camp in the Laurel Highland Mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania. We offer high quality and affordable day, overnight, and family camp programs. Our campers have the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of activities such as swimming, Ga-Ga, arts and crafts, rock climbing, archery, zip lining, and much much more.

While camp activities are an important part of a summer camp, they are actually the tools we use to teach campers how to build meaningful friendships, create opportunities for life long memories, and lead in the development of a stronger character. Our focus is to instill the core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility among each and every camper.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Being a CIT at YMCA Camp Soles gives you a unique training opportunity that will serve you well should you ever desire to return as a camp counselor, work in day care or after-school programs, or become a coach or mentor for younger kids. Our CIT program is specifically designed for teens who are interested in working with kids. We teach critical counseling skills, behavior management, and instruction techniques.

Being a CIT is about learning practical skills that you will hone at camp. For example, you will work with our staff as assistant instructors in the various program areas across Camp Soles. You will also be assigned a cabin to help with everything from running activities to working with homesick campers. Camp is after all about learning through positive relationships and our counselors are role models for our CITs as much as they are for campers.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At the Y, no child or family is turned away due to inability to pay. That holds true at YMCA camps as well. Realizing that different families have different abilities to pay, we created a three tier pricing program. Based on an honor system, your family chooses which tier you can afford. Tier placement does not change any aspect of the experience your child will receive. It is a way to ensure that every child can access the same opportunities.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
YMCA Camp Soles is more than just a summer camp. We are a home to a lucky few, and home away from home for many more. Our staff members come from various local universities as well as out of state and as far as Australia and Europe. Working at camp can be life changing.

Chestnut Lake has been designed to emulate the traditions and excellence of Trail’s End while providing your family with the flexibility of 3-week or 6-week alternatives. In 2008, Chestnut Lake opened its gates as the Northeast’s premier session camp located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, just 2 ½ hours from NYC and Philadelphia.

Chestnut Lake offers boys and girls a brand new, state-of-the-art facility along with creative day and evening programming. Chestnut Lake is an all around camp with a strong sports program. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: During the summer before 11th grade, campers have the opportunity to participate in our Leadership Training year. CAMP FACILITIES: Your students will be safely housed in a dorm room at Millersville University and will have all of the same amenities as they would in a hotel. Each dorm room will include a private sink, shower and bathroom. Three meals a day are included with the tuition, and there is a full use kitchenette in the dorms with a microwave, stove and refrigerator. For an additional boarding fee, parents are welcomed to stay in an adjoining dorm room and will also receive a meal plan. At the end of week one, a special picnic will occur between the students, faculty and any family members. For a small additional fee a trip to Hershey Park will also be planned if enough members attend. All of the dancers will featured in a final performance on Friday July 21, 2017.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Viktor Yeliohin (Director) is a former soloist with the Donetsk Ballet of Ukraine. He is a Ballet master, Professor of Choreography and Studio Director with a career spanning more than 20 years.

Vadim Pisarev, trained at the Kiev Chorographical School and was given the honor and highest title of "People's Artist of the Ukraine." He is one of many well trained dancers that will be teaching throughout the summer program.

Inna Dorofeyeva, a native of the Chuguyev in Ukraine, Ms. Dorofeyeva studied at the Kiev Choreographic School under the tutelage of Varvar P. Mey. Formally a Principal Dancer of the Deutsche Oper Am Rhein in Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, she quickly gained international attention.

Cody Smith, has been dancing professionally for 16 years. In New York, he has been a member of the ensemble of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular for the past 11 years. He has also assisted in numerous Broadway workshops and many regional and touring companies.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Chimaqua has acres of woods, fields and tumbling brooks. The setting includes rustic lodges, cabins, a swimming pool, lake, trails and many other amenities.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Chimaqua is an overnight weekend camp for grieving children ages 6-12 offered by the Pathways Center for Grief & Loss. Our focus is on helping your child learn about loss, develop coping skills and build self-confidence. This is achieved through fun-filled activities and opportunities for small- and large-group sharing. In the safe and accepting environment of camp, the children learn ways to understand and express their feelings about their loss. The campers also benefit from spending time with other children who have also experienced a loss. Camp is staffed by professional Pathways Center counselors and trained volunteers, and a registered nurse is on-site for the duration of camp. A specially-trained adult buddy is paired with each child to provide constant companionship, support and supervision throughout the weekend.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp Chimaqua is a program of Hospice & Community Care's Pathways Center for Grief & Loss. The Pathways Center for Grief & Loss is a free community resource for children, teens and adults who are coping with the death of someone significant in their lives. Our mission is to support and encourage the inherent ability to heal and discern new paths on one's journey through grief. Professionally trained Pathways Center counselors are committed to:
- Providing support to individuals of all ages
- Educating others about common grief responses

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Harmony features 8 newly remodeled cabins, 5 rustic cabins, RV campground, teepees, swimming pool & waterslide, climbing & rappelling tower, high & low elements ropes course, pavilions, catch & release pond, indoor gym & multipurpose building, dining hall, meeting rooms, and retreat buildings for large and small groups of all types. Leaders-in-Training participate in activities during the week of staff training and then choose 2 weeks out of the summer to volunteer with our staff in various capacities.

Campers going into 12 grade participate in our Staff-In-Training (SIT) program. The spend the summer learning the values of being a counselor, transitioning from camper to staff and then living in the bunks for the last 3 weeks of camp.

CAMP FACILITIES: The Kirby Center for Creative Arts will serve as the brand-new home and performance venue for Summer At Sem -Creative Arts, in addition to existing arts buildings. Camp SAY was established with one goal in mind – to provide children who stutter with a highly immersive and accepting summer camp experience that builds self-confidence and helps children develop the vital communication skills they need to fully express themselves without fear, bullying or ridicule.

Complementing our wide range of exciting traditional camp activities, Camp SAY provides each child with unique experiences that challenge them in a safe way, creating a strong sense of achievement and helping them confidently navigate the unique issues that children who stutter face in the everyday world.

STAFF
The staff is dedicated to creating a safe and accepting environment where every child can find their beautiful and unique voice. Approximately 80% of children return to camp. Parents and campers tell us it’s our staff and unique approach that consistently exceed expectations, making Camp SAY such a rewarding and transformative experience.

We provide an excellent Staff-to-Camper Ratio: With Camp’s leadership team, camp counselors, specialized activities staff and more, our staff-to-camper ratio is 1 staff member for every 2-3 campers. In addition, each bunk is staffed at night with at least 2 counselors for an average of 6-10 campers.

Counselors complete a comprehensive training program to support the social, emotional and physical needs of all our campers. Staff development includes leadership training and extensive information about stuttering, camper health and safety, camp philosophy, policies and procedures and much more. Additionally, Specialized Activities Staff is carefully selected based on their skills and expertise.

CAMP FACILITIES: Summit has approx. 30 traditional wooden cabins with electric and private facilities in each cabin. Our main buildings include our newly refinished dining hall, air-conditioned recreational hall, our medical facility, and a newly built outdoor pavilion. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence. This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. It is our goal and desire to take our campers from observing peer interactions to engaging in them, to learn and celebrate their own strengths and successes, and to feel a sense of belonging and shared community with those around them while they are with us.

Our Teen Travel program extends the Summit community to provide a safe yet exciting adventure to one of our many attractive national and international destination tours offering 14 day and 19 day excursions. Summit Weekenders provide a youth-group style social retreat for adolescents to have an oasis of independence, enjoyment, and success during the school year months. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Transitions to Adult Living Skills program for youth aged 15-19 provides learning and vocational opportunities for our teens. Our SUPER TEEN program focuses on building the executive function and daily living skills OUR kids needs to succeed as independently as possible.

CAMP FACILITIES: The camp is housed in the Main Building with Air Conditioned Rooms and Dining Hall. We have 13 full fields, a state of the art 4-Bay Field House with opportunities for indoor play during inclement weather. There is an Olympic size Swimming Pool along with 24 hour security.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The camp has been running for 35 years as Holly Shores Field Hockey Academy. The camp has new owners who are extremely excited to bring you the best of both field hockey and sports performance training. We are the only Field Hockey camp to offer top notch sports specific training to create more dynamic and xplosive athletes. Our field hockey portion of the camp is run by Lauren Pfeiffer, US National Team Member and incorporates the most current techniques in the sport.

Located on Camp Kweebec’s 200+ acres in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Summer L.I.F.E. offers campers with special needs the opportunity to cultivate friendships within the context of traditional camp activities, such as fishing, swimming, boating, arts and crafts, sports and games, cooking and environmental education.

Transportation for the day camp is provided to and from our Malvern campus and the camp property in Schwenksville. Families also may choose to drop off and pick up their campers at Camp Kweebec daily.

Families of overnight campers are responsible for transportation to the camp property on Sundays. Families may choose to pick overnight campers up at the camp property or at our Malvern, Pennsylvania campus on Fridays.

Summer L.I.F.E. offers low camper-to-staff ratio, experienced camp staff, ongoing behavior support, structured daily programming, engaging activities and real world learning. Staff includes PA certified special education teachers, a full-time nurse and behavioral support specialists.

CAMP FACILITIES: Swope Music Building houses state-of-the-art rehearsal and performance spaces, classrooms, practice rooms, and faculty studios. Students are housed in an on-campus residence hall, adjacent to the dining hall.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The West Chester University High School Summer Music Institute offers resident and commuter options for students currently in grades 9 through 12. Students have the opportunity to perform in a variety of large and small ensembles including wind ensemble, string orchestra, choir, flute ensemble, clarinet ensemble, saxophone ensemble, double reed ensemble, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble, and vocal ensemble. All ensembles perform at the end of the Institute, and all concerts are open to family and friends. Auditions for a solo recital are held at the beginning of the week.

The Institute’s faculty consists primarily of West Chester University professors, all of whom are active performing artists in the Philadelphia region. Each student receives two 30-minute private lessons and one studio masterclass on their primary instrument or voice. Students will also participate in music theory/ear training, college prep, and audition prep classes.

Recreational activities include volleyball, a pizza party, and other organized evening activities.

CAMP FACILITIES: Mt. Gilead has 16 buildings available for overnight lodging. Ranging from full sized lodges to small 8 person cabins, options are available for any sized group. Whether it’s a family ski weekend at Camelback Ski Mountain, group retreat or a staff getaway; we keep our rental prices affordable so everyone can afford a visit to the Poconos.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Mt. Gilead offers an atmosphere of relaxed fun and fellowship and the opportunity to experience God right in the middle of his creation without the distractions of technology and everyday life.

Campers are grouped in divisions according to their completed grade. Girls spend time interacting with their cabin group, divisional group, and the entire camp population at different times throughout the week.
Adventurers are completing grades 2 through 4.

Searchers are completing grades 5 and 6.

Observers are completing grades 7 and 8

Conquerors have completed grades 9 through 11.

A week at Mt. Gilead starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday, for campers staying more than 1 week, we offer the option of a stay over program. This program allows campers to stay at camp over the weekend where they will be cared for by our weekend staff. Parents are welcome to visit during this time and can take their camper out of camp for several hours (to eat, do laundry, etc.).

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Young ladies in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade are eligible to enroll in CILT I. During the school year, CILTs are working on requirements, reading books, developing a resource file, and preparing for the busy summer ahead. Once CILTs arrive at camp, they will prepare to embark on a trip that will change their lives forever. CILTs, their instructor, and other qualified personnel will leave for a week long outdoor living experience, typically backpacking and/or canoeing.

CILTs will experience first hand God’s awesome creation and learn important lessons in teamwork and communication. Once the CILTs return to camp their second week of training consists of working with a cabin, leading activities, songfests, service hours, Bible study and CILT class.

CILT II
There is no break! (Who wants one anyway?!) The CILTs are anxious to continue their training and get started on their second year requirements.

CILT II begins as soon as CILT I ends. CILTs are given their second year books to read, their extensive list of requirements, and with their new network of fellow CILTs, instructor and their mentor, they are ready to begin. One of the most unique features of our CILT II program is the use of a mentor. Each CILT chooses a mentor. Someone who will pray with them, guide, encourage, challenge and keep the CILT accountable throughout the year. The mentor and CILT will share thoughts and ideas on Bible Study methods by Rick Warren. Then the summer begins with three weeks of training.

CILT II participants are required to attend our staff training week, otherwise known as Pre-Camp. During this week, CILTs will have the opportunity to see the workings behind camp, as friendships develop, activities are planned, staff is trained and duties are assigned. They will also have the opportunity to earn certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED. The second week of CILT is filled with training in their areas of specialty, Bible study, CILT classes, and camp service hours. Finally, the third week of training arrives when CILTs get to put all their knowledge into practice when they live-in with a cabin for a full week under the supervision of another counselor. Upon successful completion of all the requirements CILTs will have a graduation ceremony and are welcomed onto our staff!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Hiking, stream-stomping and bug-catching are a few of the key ingredients that have made Riverbend's summer exploration camp a sensation for 35 years. Our eleven-week program offers children the opportunity to unwind, explore nature and most importantly, have fun! Riverbend is looking for energetic and motivated students between the ages of 16 and 18, to assist with our summer camp program and have a positive impact on the lives and education of younger children. Educators-In-Training will spend their time assisting professional educators and assistant educators with group management, daily activities, modeling of appropriate behavior, and providing nurturing support of campers. In addition, EITs will get to participate in activities with the children, including games, nature exploration, field trips, and more. EITs work primarily with our youngest campers and are a vital part to the success of the program.

Pre-requisites:

25 hours of cumulative experience working with children in a CIT program, babysitting, community experience, or similar experience.
Experience working with multiple age groups of children.
An excitement for the great outdoors and a passion for sharing it with children.

Responsibilities:

EIT's perform a vital role in Riverbend's summer camp program. Depending on the EIT's time and growth in the position there will be potential for increased responsibilities throughout the summer including but not limited to check in and check out, leading an Activity Day program, and planning and implementing lessons.

Basic duties include:
-Assisting camp staff with assigned tasks that help with the general management of educational groups, primarily for children 3-6 years of age.
-Providing a role model for the younger children on the appropriate ways to behave at camp and how to successfully explore the natural world.
-Assisting with the leading of Circle Time and Activity Day.
-Assisting with implementation of lesson plans and activities.
-Assisting with the clean-up of education spaces, including picnic areas, outdoor classroom, supply room and others.
-Assisting with camper lunch.

Qualifications:

-Successful completion of pre-employment screening including drug test and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and criminal background check.
-Ability to work actively outdoors during the hot summer months and in all weather conditions.

Summer 2017 Environmental Educator

Riverbend is seeking self-motivated, energetic, and passionate educators to be a part of the staff of Riverbend's Summer Exploration Day Camp. Each week 80-100 children, ages 3–13, come to our 30-acre Gladwyne site for outdoor hands-on exploration and discovery. The atmosphere is friendly and child-centered. Curriculum is interpreted and delivered by professional staff with a strong emphasis on exploring and expanding children's interests and stimulating investigation. Some programs take place at other sites and include field trips, cook-outs, camp-outs, and camping trips. Groups are generally 12-14 children and are led by a lead educator and supported by an assistant educator.

Responsibilities:

Educators will work with a specific age group for the majority of the summer. Age groups will be designated based on experience and interest.
Educators will be required to interpret existing curriculum and amend it to be age appropriate lesson plans each day. Educators are encouraged to collaborate in this process.

Educators implement the lesson plans with a group of approximately 12-14 campers for whom they have primary responsibility, which includes group management, chaperoning field trips, and organizing cook-outs and overnights when teaching the older groups.

Educators and assistant educators are expected to work together as a team and supervise any Educator-in-Training (teen volunteer) assigned to their group.
General upkeep of the facility each day will be expected with weekly chores completed on Fridays.

Qualifications:

-Successful completion of pre-employment screening including drug test and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History -Clearance and criminal background check.
-Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Education, Biology, Geology, Outdoor Recreation, etc.).
-Understanding of basic principles of environmental education
-Knowledge of environmental/science/natural history concepts

-Ability to work a flexible schedule which will include early mornings, late afternoons and occasional overnights.

CAMP FACILITIES: Conshatawba is a Resident Camp that specializes in The Arts and Adventure. We have a ceramics and pottery program, arts and craft building, theater stage,pool, climbing rock wall and zip line, low ropes course, archery field and numerous sports fields. Conshatawba has beautiful lodges, platform tents, and cabins for lodging.Girls attend themed weeks of camp throughout the summer with this year's most popular sessions being a Percy Jackson session and a Hunger Games themed session. Conshatawba offers resident camping for girls ages 8-17 as well as family sessions.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Conshatawba has adventure programming specializing in backpacking trips. Conshatawba offers a 4 sided climbing tower and zipline. Conshatawba also focuses on the arts with an indoor theater and arts studio.

Our camps are staffed with activity specialists, a cook, a health supervisor and specialty staff for adventure programs. Staff members are carefully selected for their skills as well as how they work with children and adults. They participate in weeklong training sessions where they earn appropriate certifications. Camp Conshatawba offers programming for Girl Scouts to build girls of confidence, courage and character.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We offer a two week CIT session for girls to learn leadership skills.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Girls may apply for scholarships through Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We offer family white water rafting programs and traditional family camp programs. There are also Mom and daughter weekend programs.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp Conshatawba offers year round programming. Groups may rent the lodges during the year. The challenge course/zipline is available for reservation during the months of May-October. Winter programming with cross county skiing is also available.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our camp is located at Blue Mountain Resort nestled in the Pocono mountains. For residential campers we offer cabins that sleep 8-10 campers, a counselor, and a junior counselor. Bathrooms and showers are located in the adjacent building. All campers will have Blue Mountain facilities at their disposal depending on the activities of your child's choice. Blue Mountain has laser tag accommodations, a ropes course, climbing wall, a zipline course, disc golf course, and an archery range. Campers also have the choice to go horseback riding at Apollo Farms or go on a Jim Thorpe River Adventure!

Kids create their own schedules, then progress through activities designed to engage their curiosity and develop new skills. They'll be so busy having fun, they won't realize they're also gaining confidence, creativity, and character!

Blue Mountain Adventure Camp is a Member of the American Camp Association (ACA). The ACA is comprised of camp professionals who have compiled a set of standards which are to be viewed as the basics by which a camp should operate, and is considered to be the leading accrediting organization in camping. Our staff is highly trained in all activities that the campers will be pursuing.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Whitetail Camps offer exciting outdoor fun through adventure activities. Kayaking, biking, fishing and fly fishing, camping and wilderness living provide the tools for campers to grow their confidence and develop their skills. A Ropes Course Challenge gives campers a chance to test group decision making skills and step out of their personal compfort zone. Whitetail staff is professional and provides the best balance of fun and safety.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
We hire close to 25 college students each summer to serve as our Support Staff. This team consists of guides (counselors), activity instructors, coaches, and coordinators. Each role has specific functions and responsibilities, which you can learn more about by checking out our website.

CAMP FACILITIES: Students will work in a variety of engineering labs, will eat in campus dining halls, and will enjoy the experience of college dormitory living!
